1. I-Citronellal isetshenziswa ngokuyinhloko njengento eluhlaza yokwenza i-citronellol, i-hydroxycitronellal, i-menthol nokunye okunjalo. Ingasetshenziswa ngenani elincane lemon yezinga eliphansi, i-cologne, i-magnolia, i-lily yesigodi, uju kanye nephunga, ikakhulukazi ngoba inomphumela wegesi eluhlaza okotshani.
2. I-Citronellal ayivamisile ukusetshenziswa ku-flavour yezinga eliphezulu, kodwa ivame ukusetshenziswa ku-flavour yensipho engabizi. Ikakhulukazi esetshenziswa ekwenzeni vanillyl utshwala kanye hydroxy citronella uviniga. I-menthol yokwenziwa ikhiqizwa ebuchosheni be-menthol. Phakathi kwabo, i-hydroxycitronellal ingenye yezinongo ezibaluleke kakhulu.
3. I-Citronellal isetshenziselwa ukulungisa ukunambitheka okunolamula ocebile, utshani obulamulayo obufana nephunga elimnandi.
4. I-Citronellal isetshenziswa kabanzi njenge-fixative, i-ejenti eyinkimbinkimbi kanye ne-modifier kumakha ezimonyo; iphinde ibe isinongo seziphuzo nokudla. Ingalungiswa kusuka kuwoyela we-citronella noma i-acetylated futhi ifakwe oxid kusuka ku-isoeugenol.
